Sensitive Fern

Large, native fern with spreading habit adds texture and green color to woodland gardens, native plant areas and moist areas along streams and ponds. Sensitive Fern gets its name for its sensitivity to the first fall frost as well as drought conditions. Growing up to 4 ft. tall with arching fronds, it grows best in shaded, moist conditions. It's rarely bothered by insects and disease, and deer tend to pass it by. While sensitive to frost, this perennial is hardy to zone 4 and can be grown in many areas of the United States.
